Rivières is a series of documentary performances featuring the lives and experiences of eight Montrealers.
To mark the 375th anniversary of the city of Montreal, VISIBLE created a series of documentary performances featuring eight individuals who live and work in Côte-des-Neiges. This innovative work is a bilingual and free performance that takes place in the Centre Communautaire de Loisir de la Côte-des-Neiges. This one-hour performance was the result of dozens of interviews led by VISIBLE in the borough. Unfolding in different rooms of the Centre, each performance featured a citizen who presented themselves physically to the audience, their pre-recorded voice being played in their unique performative space. These multimedia documentary performances become a unique tribute to citizens, who, room by room, have come together to meet, listen and recognize one another.
Rivières was made possible thanks to the generous support of:
the City of Montreal – vive375mtl fund, the Arrondissement Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, the Theatre Engaging Communities Program of the National Theatre School of Canada and the Centre Communautaire de Loisir de Côte-des-Neiges.
