Rivières is a series of bilingual and free documentary performances with 8 residents of Montreal’s Côtes-des-Neiges borough.
To mark the 375th anniversary of the city of Montreal, VISIBLE created a series of documentary performances with 8 individuals who live and work in Montreal’s most highly populated and multicultural borough. This innovative work is a bilingual and free series of performances that take place in the Centre Communautaire de Loisir de la Côte-des-Neiges. This one-hour long spatially mapped performance is the result of dozens of interviews led by VISIBLE in the borough. Unfolding in different rooms of the Centre, each performance was a “stop” that featured a resident who presented themselves physically to the audience while their pre-recorded audio interview was played in the space. These multimedia documentary performances become a unique tribute to members of the community, who, room by room, have come together to meet, listen and recognize one another.
Rivières was made possible thanks to the generous support of:
City of Montreal – vive375mtl fund, the Arrondissement Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, the Theatre Engaging Communities Program of the National Theatre School of Canada and the Centre Communautaire de Loisir de Côte-des-Neiges.
